Howard George Roth

Howard George Roth, age 89 of Skanee, MI passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2017 at U. P. Health System in Marquette, MI.

He was born June 30, 1928 in Shawano, WI son of Charles and Lydia (Fritz) Roth. Howard grew up in Wisconsin. He was a cook on the great lakes ship, David M Weir, prior to getting married. Howard married the former Doris Erickson on August 8, 1953 in Skanee. They resided in the Detroit area where he worked for J. L. Sherk as a sheet metal journeyman with the union local #80. Upon retirement in 1994, they moved to Skanee.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a master gardener, handyman, refinished furniture, and made maple syrup at his sugar shack. Howard was a loving, caring, generous man. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always full of energy; his family referred to him as “the energizer bunny”.

Surviving are his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Roth of Skanee; daughters, Cheryl Roth-Hopper of Clawson, MI, Cindy Butzier of Burton, MI; sisters, Edna Weise of WI, Hazel Voster of WI; brothers, Lawrence Roth of Tigerton, WI, Arlie (Judy) Roth of Madison Heights, MI; grandsons, Jason (Nancy) Roth of Beverly Hills, MI, Brandon (Amanda) Carver of Madison Heights, MI; great grandchildren, Ethan and Carly Roth, Lukas Carver; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death are his parents; an infant child Dorann Marie; siblings Art, Norman, Arnie, and Irving.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
