Ida Laturi

Ida Maria Laturi, 81, of Watton, died Thursday afternoon, with her family by her side, at Marquette General Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Ida was born July 12, 1922 in Ironwood, a daughter of the late Oscar and Ida (Forsti) Wainio. She was a graduate of Ewen High School. On February 5, 1949 she married Eli Laturi in Detroit.

She worked for several years at the Covington Rest Home performing various duties.

She attended the Watton Apostolic Lutheran Church. Ida enjoyed reading, poetry, sewing, traveling, music and spending time with her grandchildren. She will always be thought of by her family as a loving wife and mother.

Ida is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eli Laturi of Watton; children, David Laturi of Covington, Barbara (Kenneth) Kytola of Watton and Rita (Dan) Coleman of L'Anse; grandchildren; Yvonne, Douglas, Shannon, Rebbeca and Joshua; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Kassandra, Aidan & Garrett; siblings, John (Dorothy) Wainio of Ontonogan and William Wainio of Ewen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, a sister, Amelia, brother, Kusti and grandson, Kevin preceded her in death.

A funeral service will be held on Monday in the Watton Apostolic Lutheran Church at 1 p.m. Rev. Ray Lepola will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the time of the service in the church. Interment will take place in the Covington Cemetery.
