Inez Rachel Ikonen
July 16, 1917 — February 23, 2009
Inez R. (Hill) Ikonen, age 91 of Baraga, Michigan passed away on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 16, 1917 in Detroit, MI daughter to the late Henry and Mary (Ketola) Hill. Inez graduated high school from Cass Tech in Detroit. She married Arthur Ikonen on January 10, 1941 in Bowling Green, Ohio. The lived in the Detroit area and she worked as a Beautician. In 1971 she moved to Skanee; and in 1990 she moved to Baraga.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out to eat with her good friend Rachel, playing cards, reading and doing cross word puzzles.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews
Preceded are her husband Arthur; 9 brothers, Albert, John, Donald, Ensio, Eino, Waino, Herman, Edwin, Wesley Hill; 8 sisters, Saima Niemisto, Hannah Koponen, Irma Iverson, Alma Poirier, Aili Rajala, Edna Maki, Verna Erickson, and Leona Kallio.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 27th at 1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. The visitation will be fro 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Pelkie Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
