Ingrid Christine Moilanen, age 50, of L'Anse, Michigan went to her rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer

She was born December 19, 1954, in L'Anse. She is the daughter of Ingrid A. Moilanen (Nurmi) and the late Waino O. Moilanen of Herman. She grew up in Herman as one of seven children and was a 1973 graduate of L'Anse High School. She lived and worked in many parts of the country before receiving a degree from Northern Michigan University in 1991. She completed her student teaching in Marquette schools and enjoyed teaching at the Baraga Area Schools for eleven years. Many co-workers and former students remember her fondly.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Moilanen of Marquette; her mother, Ingrid A. Moilanen of Herman; her brothers, Glenn (Bonnie) Moilanen, Jack Moilanen and Louis Moilanen of Herman, James (Linda) Moilanen of Chula Vista, CA, Wayne (Cathy) Moilanen of Marquette; sister, Lora (John) Murray of Hudson, MI; as well as aunts, uncles and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in L'Anse with Rev. Scott Williams presiding. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Jacobson Funeral Home and on Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Her brothers, Glenn Moilanen, James Moilanen, Wayne Moilanen, Jack Moilanen, Louis Moilanen and brother-in-law, John Murray will serve as pallbearers.
