Jack R. Haka, age 73, of Sebring, FL, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 12, 1945 in L'Anse, Michigan to Wesley and Yvonne (Brazeau) Haka. He graduated from Baraga High School, Baraga, MI in 1963 and married Sandra Tepsa on September 4, 1965. Jack worked in the elevator trade for 43 years in service, construction, modernization and management. He retired in 2010; and in 2011, became a certified elevator inspector and worked part time for Landmark Elevator Consultants. Jack served in the U.S. Army, was of Lutheran faith, and has been a resident of Sebring, FL since 2014, coming from South Florida. He is survived by his Wife – Sandra Haka of Sebring, FL; Son- MCPO Jason M. Haka, USN, (Heather) of Yokosuka, Japan; Daughter – Elizabeth Wardlaw (Stuart) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Brothers – Ronald Haka of MI; John Haka of TX; Sister – Sally Outinen (Paul) of MI; and Grandson – Stuart Wardlaw, Jr. of Washington, D.C. and many cherished Nieces and Nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 27th at 3:00 p.m. at Grace Free Lutheran Church with Rev. Dave Hoskins officiating. Visitation will be from 2-3:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery with Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military rites under the direction of the American Legion Post 444. A luncheon will follow at Grace Free Lutheran Church Hall. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
