Jack E. Lampsa, age 82 of L'Anse passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
He was born November 10, 1924 in Osceola, Michigan son of the late John and Ellen (Matson) Lampsa. He grew up in Dollar Bay, MI. Jack was in the US Army during WWII from March of 1943 to December 1945. After his time in the service he resided in Milwaukee for several years; moving to L'Anse in 1982.
Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid sports fan. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3897, American Legion Post 144, and the Laborers International Union of North America Local 1329.
Surviving is his brother Ray Lampsa of Vero Beach, FL; special friend Frances Brunet of L'Anse; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his brother James Lampsa.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 29th at 7:00 pm at Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Rev. Dean Franz will officiate. Fellowship and lunch will follow at the Sharing Room at the Jacobson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery on Thursday, August 30th at 11:00 am with the Baraga County Area Veterans conducting military rites under the direction of American Legion Post 444.
