Jacqueline "Jackie" Marie Sikkila, 74, of L'Anse, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at the Skilled Nursing Unit in Baraga County Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 7, 1932, in Pequaming, MI, a daughter of the late Clarence and Evelyn (Stein) Monette and had been a life long area resident. Jackie was a 1950 graduate of L'Anse High School. On December 29, 1951 she married Arvid Sikkila in the United Lutheran Church in L'Anse.

Jackie was an active member of United Lutheran Church and a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening, traveling with her husband, watching hockey and loved her dog, Blossom.

She is survived by 2 sons, Kevin (Jill) Sikkila of Duluth, MN and Darin (Carrie) Sikkila of Nisula; 3 grandchildren, Aaron & Austin Sikkila and Amber Heikkinen of Nisula; a sister, Constance "Sally" Hofer of L'Anse; nieces, Susan Anderson of Gladstone, Sally Ann Witz of Escanaba; nephews, Robert Hofer of Marquette, Mark Sikkila of DePere, WI, Mike Sikkila of West Allis, WI, Marcia (Mike) Marinich of L'Anse and Marie Lanczy of L'Anse; and several great-nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid in 1997 and a sister, Patricia.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 2, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home and on Saturday, June 3, 2006 from 10 to 11 a.m. at United Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held on Saturday in the church at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Interment will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the United Lutheran Church or Baraga County Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit.
