James Alfred Kokko

August 30, 1953 — April 17, 2019

James A Kokko, age 65 of Baraga, MI passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, WI.

He was born August 30, 1953 in Ishpeming, MI son of Raymond and Elizabeth (Haataja) Kokko. Jim graduated from Baraga High School in 1971. He married the former Norma Tahtinen on August 26, 1972 in Baraga. Jim worked as an iron miner at CCI for 37 years. His enjoyment in life was time spent with his family and his little dog Roxy. Jim’s sense of humor warmed all those around him. He found peace being outdoors with nature.

Jim is survived by his wife Norma Kokko of Baraga; mother Elizabeth Kokko-Holzman of L’Anse; daughter Jimi Lyn Kokko; granddaughter that he raised, Ayeasha Kokko, and grandchildren Sierra, Cheyenne, and Nathaniel Welsh; sisters, Doris (John) Mayo of L’Anse, Pauline (Frank) Peters of Georgia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his father Raymond; sons, Lee Kokko, Luke Kokko; and sister Roseann Coen.

Per his request there will be no services held. Burial will be in the Keweenaw Bay Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Jacobson Funeral Home.
