James McMahon

James "Jim" Dale McMahon, age 42 of Galesburg, MI, formerly of Baraga, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.

He was born on April 21, 1960 in L'Anse, son of James and Annette (Walitalo) McMahon. Jim grew up in Baraga and graduated from Baraga High School in 1978. He lived in Wyoming for a couple of years and moved back to Baraga until he relocated to the Kalamazoo area. Jim worked for Tower Automotive for fourteen years and then for Bunting Bearings. He married the former Mary Ann Martin on January 26, 2001 in Las Vegas.

Jim was confirmed Catholic at St. Ann's Church. He was an avid Packer Fan and enjoyed restoring his 1970 Monte Carlo. Jim loved spending time with his son and taking him fishing.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann and son Lucas of Galesburg, MI; mother Annette Mervar of L'Anse; brother, Gerald "Jay" (Dianne) McMahon of Baraga; sisters, Carilyn "Cari" McMahon of Baraga, Dianne Gallagher, Amy (Jim) Stein, and April (Dan) McMahon all of L'Anse; step brothers: Karl (Jane) Mervar, and Kevin (Noelle) Mervar both of L'Anse; step sister Kristine (Rod) Piper of Sagola; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father James Charles McMahon; step father Frank Mervar Sr.; step brothers Frank Mervar Jr., and Kurt Mervar.

The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga. Visitations will be held on Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home and on Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Parish prayers will be recited on Friday at 6:00 p.m.. Fr. George Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in the Herman Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
