James Roland

James Roland, age 88 of L'Anse passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

He was born May 26, 1915 in Chicago, IL son of the late James and Clara (Doherty) Roland. James grew up in the Chicago area. He has several degrees in engineering and was an engineer for Midwest Industrial Truck in Chicago for 30 years. He married the former Alice Mortl in April 1978 at the Zeba Church. Upon retirement in 1981 they moved to Skanee and then later to L'Anse. James was a member of the Richmore Country Club in Chicago. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing.

James is survived by his wife Alice of L'Anse; children, Patricia (Bruce) Frisch of Sante Cruz, CA, Christine (Robert) Dutzi of Buffalo Grove, IL, Michell Brophy of Chicago, IL; sister Adele Washburn of Arlington Heights, IL; step children Dianne (Dave) Haapala of Ewen, John Erickson of Orlando, FL, Michael (Leanna) Erickson of Ontonagon; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Ruth Roland. Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 15 from 11-1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bayside Village or Baragaland Senior Citizens in L'Anse. Following the service fellowship and a luncheon will follow in the Sharing Room at Jacobson Funeral Home. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
