Janet Anne Godward, age 56 of Pelkie, MI went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at her home.
She was born February 14, 1956 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania daughter to Gordon and Gretchen (Guthoehrlein) Gearhart. Janet grew up in Poland, OH and graduated in 1975 from Poland Seminary High School. She then attended college to be a key punch operator and worked for a short while for a trucking company in Youngstown, Ohio. Janet married Paul J. Godward on May 14, 1977 in Poland, OH; they resided in Alston, MI and later Pelkie, MI.
Janet worked as a crew leader for the DNR, at the Branding Iron Restaurant, Pelkie Credit Union, Pelkie Post Office, and as a volunteer at the Copper Country Christian School for many years.
She enjoyed painting, drawing, writing poems, studying the Bible, and walking in the woods with her dogs. Janet enjoyed the fellowship of other Christians while attending the Pelkie Gospel Hall.
Surviving are her parents, Gordon and Gretchen Gearhart of Duluth, Georgia; husband Paul J. Godward of Pelkie; son Paul Godward II and fiancAC. Sara Kane of West Palm Beach, FL; brother Gordon Gearhart of Marquette, MI, sister Kate (Michael) Lawler of Philadelphia, PA; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Janet will be greatly missed by all who knew her. .
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29th at 1:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of service. Dan Plescher from the Gospel Hall, will conduct the service. A luncheon and fellowship will follow in The Sharing Room at the Jacobson Funeral Home.
