Jean Alfreda Ayers

Jean Alfreda Ayers, 87, of L'Anse, died Sunday afternoon, March 11, 2007, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit.
She was born April 21, 1919, in L'Anse, a daughter of the late Adolph and Julia (Eliassen) Tollefson. Jean was a 1937 L'Anse High School graduate. She married Oiva Moilanen in 1940 in L'Anse and he preceded her in death on September 28, 1965. She married Steven Ayers in June 12, 1982 and he preceded her in death on April 12, 1983.
Jean was employed for several years as a clerk in the tax assessment department for Baraga County. Jean was a member of United Lutheran Church.
She is survived by a son, John (Diane) Moilanen of Peoria, AZ; 2 daughters, Julia (John) Stroube of Cody, WY and Jean (James) Schultz of L'Anse; grandchildren, Ray, Tim, Jim, Jessica, Donna & Denise; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews; 1 brother-in-law & 4 sister's-in-law. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers & 4 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. in United Lutheran Church with Rev. Scott Williams officiating. Interment will be held in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
