Jenny Jeanette (Haataja) Kaster

Jenny J Kaster, age 72 of Elo, MI passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1945 in Hancock, MI daughter of Alfred and Olga (Sillanpaa) Haataja. Jenny attended the Doelle School in Tapiola. Jenny married Brian Kaster on November 25, 1966 in Hancock. She worked as a nurse’s aide for many years. In 2010 Jenny retired as Park Ranger at the Baraga State Park.
Jenny enjoyed all outdoor activities, camping, wood hauling and stacking, mowing, and small crafts.
Surviving are her sons, Jon Kaster of Calumet, Joseph Kaster of Elo; daughters, Tammy Haataja of Elo, Cindy (Ray) Niemi of Arnheim, Candy (Ernie Smet) Reed of Nestoria, Taywne Kaster of L’Anse; brothers, Leslie Haataja of Elo, Severi (June) Haataja of Chassell, Louis (Judy) Haataja of Baraga; sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Holzman of Baraga, twin Jean (Ray) Juntunen of Baraga, Elma (Mike) Heikkinen of Elo; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Brian; brothers, Alexander, Brynolf, Willard, Ernest, Fabian, Norman; sisters, Martha Neal, and Nelda Wakeman.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3rd from 12-1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon in The Sharing Room at Jacobson Funeral Home with food being donated from family and friends. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery.
