Jerry Lee LaFernier

Jerry Lee LaFernier, age 66 of Baraga, MI passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 11, 1951 in Baraga, son of Bernard and Virginia (Kunick) LaFernier. Jerry attended school in Baraga until going into the US Marines. He worked at White Pine Mine until it had closed; then worked at Pettibone and last for KBIC Cultural Center, retiring this year.
Jerry was a member of KBIC and Ojibwa Seniors. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, going to the casino, and socializing down at the Legion in Baraga.
Surviving are his children, Toni (John) Sypniewski of Howell, MI, Renee McCoy of WI, Mandy (Erik) LaFernier of Ontonagon, Jerod LaFernier of Calumet, Jimmy (Brooke) LaFernier of L’Anse; brother Bernard LaFernier of Baraga; brother-in-law Bob Manning of Baraga; grandchildren, Brandi Watt, Adam Watt, Ashton Colborne, Brittany McCoy, Brandon McCoy, Alex McCoy, Benson McCoy, Daniel Fleury, Lexi Hill, Braelyn LaFernier, Rilee Fish, Breanne Dudo, Carter white; aunts, Ann Swartz and Frannie Chartier.
Preceding him in death are his parents, and sister Kathleen Manning.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 12th from 2-6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 444 in Baraga. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
