John Frank Backus
February 9, 1942 — March 25, 2003
John Backus, age 61 of Pelkie passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Marquette General Hospital.
He was born February 9, 1942 in Grand Ledge, Michigan son of the late Frank and Ruth (Knowlton) Backus. He grew up down state Michigan and moved to Baraga about 11 years ago, most recently living in Pelkie. John worked at the Baraga State Park for about 2 A½ years. He enjoyed fishing.
John is survived by a special friend Jenny Kaster of Pelkie; sister Ruth (Sheldon) Gould of Toledo, OH; step daughter Marlene Beck of Baraga; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
