John O. Barnfather

John O. Barnfather, age 88, of Elo, passed away Friday, May 25, 2001 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
John was born September 6, 1912 in Scranton, PA, son of the late John and Theresa (Torda) Barnfather. He grew up in Detroit, MI. He attended Detroit Public School, and then Henry Ford Trade School in Dearborn, MI. John married the former Lyle Keippela on March 6, 1936 in Detroit, she preceded him in death on February 6, 1997. He worked for General Motors from 1941 until 1971. Upon retirement they moved to Elo, to his wife's family homestead. John was an avid golfer.
He is survived by one son John (Janet) Barnfather of Davisburg, MI; two grandchildren Brooke (Steve) Liles of Waterford, MI, John W. Barnfather of El Segundo, CA; and three great grandchildren Zach, Jessi, and Aric Liles.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, at 12:00 noon at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Pastor Kenneth Storm will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Elo Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
