John H. Corgan age 77 of Skanee passed away on July 21, 2004 at his home with his family at his side.

He was born July 13, 1927 in Baraga, MI son of the late Harry and Elsie (Halter) Corgan. John grew up in L'Anse and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1946. He was in the US Navy from 1944-45 during WWII. John married the former Evelyn Koski in 1951 in Detroit. They lived in NW Indiana from 1951 - 1992 where he worked at US Steel's Gary Works. Upon retirement he became a steel industry consultant for Universal Refractories. In 1992 he and Evelyn moved to Skanee.

John was a member of Sacred Heart Church, VFW Post 3897 Life member, and President of the Arvon Historical Society. His hobbies included crossword puzzles, reading, cards, and woodworking. He enjoyed his family and doted on his grandchildren.

Survived by his wife Evelyn of Skanee; children, Barbara (Allen) Clishe of Skanee, Christine (Michael) Prost of Niagara, John P. Corgan of Hobart, IN, Thomas (Lynn) Corgan of Hobart, IN, Beth (Mark) Porth of Minneapolis, MN, Dr. Timothy (Christine) Corgan of Marinette, WI; brothers, Patrick of Gary, IN, R. William (Verna) of Minneapolis, Daniel (Bernice) of Tualatin, OR, Joseph L. of DeLand, FL; sisters, Elsie Grace and Nora Koski both of L'Anse; 14 grandchildren, Gayle (Travis) Lindenberg, Joel (Jami) Clishe, Jackie Corgan, John and Michelle Prost, Christopher, Jennifer, Monica, James, and Kevin Corgan, Amy and Ben Porth, Will and Ryan Corgan; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Preceding him in death are his brothers Andrew J. and Francis Corgan; sisters, Adaline Bradley, Elizabeth Corgan, M. Josephine Grace, and Charlotte Littrel; and a granddaughter Kate Corgan.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, July 24 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of the service. There will also be visitation on Friday, July 23 from 6-9:00 pm at Jacobson Funeral Home. The Baraga County Veterans will conduct military rites at 7:00 pm under the direction of the American Legion Post 444, and parish prayers being recited at 8:00 pm. Fr. Chacko will officiate. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
