Joseph Herbert Manning

Joseph H Manning, age 63 of Pequaming, MI passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse, MI. He was born June 26, 1952 in Hancock, MI son to Herbert and Mary Faith (Racette) Manning. Joe graduated from L’Anse High School in 1970 and began working at Baraga County Memorial Hospital until 1971. Joe then worked at the Pettibone Axel Shop in Baraga for a few of years. Joe also worked at Celotex as a maintenance supervisor for 27 years. Joe and his son Jesse owned and operated J & J Repair in L’Anse until his retirement. Joe married Polly Hollon on June 28, 2002. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and four wheeling. He was most proud of the home he and his wife made in Pequaming and enjoyed being by the beach with his wife and dogs. Surviving are his wife, Polly Manning of Pequaming; son, Jesse (Heather) Manning of L’Anse; daughter, Amy (Weylin Haataja) Manning of Marquette; brothers, Mark (Linnea) Manning of Port Richey, FL, James (Rosie) Manning of Wausau, WI, Robert (Kathy) Manning of Baraga, John (Julie) Manning of Kasson, MN; sisters, Vicky (William) Vertanen of Keweenaw Bay, WI, Mary Dee Shanahan of Baraga, Katy “Katrina” (Joe) Schutte of Bovine; six grandchildren, Brie, Winter, Orion, Koda, Raven, Summer; and father-in-law Robert Hollon of Skanee. Preceding him in death are his parents; mother-in-law Helen Hollon; and brother-in-law Tim Shanahan. At Joe’s request a Celebration of Life will be held this summer at his beach house in Pequaming.
