Joyce Marie Beesley

Joyce Marie Beesley, age 86 of Skanee, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L'Anse.

Joyce was born September 15, 1922 in Skanee, MI daughter of Oscar and Esther (Peterson) Elmblad. She graduated from L'Anse High School in 1940 and received a degree in Business from Suomi College in 1942. Joyce married Richard Beesley on December 1, 1945 in Champagne, IL. They resided in Tinley Park, IL until 1978 when they moved to Aura.

Joyce was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee and WELCA. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and loved being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Leonard (Susan) Beesley of Dollar Bay, Charles (Theresa) Beesley of Skanee; three daughters, Janet (Tom) Vladika of Mokena, IL, Mary (Fred) Gay of New Lenox, IL, Tamara (John) Carroll of Laurium, MI; 12 grandchildren, Chrissy Tachik, Joseph Vladika, Kathy Carter, Julie Vladika, Char-Lee Beesley, Jacob Gay, Noah Beesley, Luke Gay, Hannah Beesley, Holly Nesselroad Taylor Beesley, Ian Carroll; 2 Step grandchildren, Joel Gay and Kyle Gay; 3 great grandchildren, Gavin Tachik, Mackenzie Tachik, Thomas Vladika; sister Eunice Dove of Skanee; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are her husband Richard; brothers and sisters, Kermit, Donald, Verna, Lowell, and Rodrick Elmblad.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church and on Friday, December 5th from 6-8:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse. Burial will be in the spring in the Skanee Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
