Joyce Lorraine Manninen

Joyce L. Manninen, age 71 of Covington passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Bayside Village in L'Anse.

She was born August 2, 1931 in Marquette, daughter to the late William and Angeline (Croschere) Smith. Joyce married Donald Manninen on July 19, 1958 in Munising. She worked at the Northwoods Restaurant in Marquette for a short while, and then at the Four Seasons Rest Home in Sidnaw for about four years. She enjoyed being a homemaker, working on crafts & gardening.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Donald of Covington; son David T. (Marcia) Manninen of Negaunee; daughters Carolyn Bazinette of Marquette, Peggy Larkin of Republic; stepsons Elmer (Grace) Manninen of Central Point, OR and Daniel (Debbie) Manninen of Gladwin, MI; brothers George (Jacqueline) Smith and William Smith both of Marquette; sisters, Henrietta (Gustav) Boehlo and Lois (Paul) DesJardins both of Marquette; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Vaughn; brothers, Kenneth, Harold, Lee, and Jack Smith; and sister Pauline Dauphinais.

Grave side funeral services will take place in the spring at the Covington Twp. Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Covington. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
