Juanita R. Johnson
July 17, 1921 — October 21, 2003
Juanita "Donna" Johnson, age 82 of L'Anse passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1921 in Goodman, WI, daughter to the late Leonard and Lillian (Deau) Draeger. Juanita grew up in Baraga and L'Anse, graduating from L'Anse High School in 1939. She married Grant Johnson on March 3, 1940 in Calumet. They resided in Baraga until 1952 when they moved to L'Anse. Juanita retired from Winkler Nursing Home where she worked for more than 15 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. Juanita enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, and going to the Casino.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant; parents Leonard and Lillian; three brothers, Sylvester, Bernard and Donald Draeger.
Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Roger) Rappleyea of Marquette and Sandra (Harry) Grafton of L'Anse; brother Leonard (Theresa) Draeger of Carlton, MN; sisters, Rita Wentela of Neenah, WI, Naomi "Tiny" Ekdahl o f L'Anse; eleven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service in the Church Hall. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
