Julia H. Ross

Julia H. Ross, age 88 of Baraga, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2002 at her home.
She was born February 16, 1913 in Pelkie, daughter to the late Samuel and Helvi (Toppari) Rajala. She graduated from Baraga High School. She moved to Chicago where she married Arthur Ross on November 9, 1934. She later worked in the office at Sears. In 1974 they moved to Baraga. She was a member of the Mission United Lutheran Church, and the VFW Auxiliary in Alston.
Julia enjoyed playing cards. She was the best mom, grandma, and great grandma. She was a big help to everyone throughout the years and was always great moral support.
She is survived by a son John (Susan) Ross of Alsip, IL, a daughter Dorothy Olmsted of Mokena, IL, four sisters Tyne Nylund of Brighton, MI, Ina Yon of Wakefield, MI, Ruth (Ernie) Beck of Marquette, MI, Ellen Lein of Calumet, three grandchildren, Fred (Deb) Olmsted Jr., Gary Olmsted, Julie Ross, and a great grandaughter Kirsten Olmsted.
Julia is preceded in death by her husband Arthur in 1984, brother John Rajala, sisters Sylvia Jokela, Olga Pulkki, Nelma White, and a granddaughter Carol Olmsted.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 19, at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday from 6-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in the Pelkie Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
