Kenneth Rudolph Sikkila, age 76 of Watton, MI passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, skilled nursing unit.
He was born June 9, 1933 in Watton, MI son of the late Joel and Mary (Lampi) Sikkila. Kenneth grew up in Watton and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1953. He married Beverly Jukkala in August 1959; shortly after they divorced. Kenneth married Esther Kantola in 1965 in Palmer, MI. Kenneth worked as a miner at White Pine Copper Mine for over 26 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, working on cars, building and carpentry.
Surviving are his wife Esther Sikkila of Watton; sons Timothy, Wayne, and Terry Sikkila of Watton; daughters, Tammy (Lance) Yunk of Palmer, Kathy (Mike) Juleff of Bessemer, MI, Hilia Sikkila of Palmer, Brenda Crain of Negaunee, Darlene Pietila of Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents; an infant daughter Lisa Mae Sikkila; baby brother and baby sister at birth; brothers, Onnie, Wesley, Reino, and Eddy Sikkila; sisters, Anna Leaf, Impi Virta, Sigred Coppler, Elsie Paquette, Viola Weddington, and Eva Hakari.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 9th at 2:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service. Pastor Pete DeRose will officiate. A luncheon and fellowship will follow the service in The Sharing Room at the Jacobson Funeral Home.
