Larry Thomas, age 69, a well known L'Anse Business man passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. He was born November 11, 1938 in Woodstock, Illinois, the son of Dale and Mable (Davison) Thomas. On September 17, 1960 he married Carrie Lou Juul.

Larry moved to L'Anse from McHenry, Illinois and was a resident of Baraga County for thirty-three years. Larry was the owner and operator of Thomas Ford Motors of L'Anse. Larry was an active member with the Mason's, Keweenaw Bay Shriner's, L'Anse Lions, and the Downtown Development Committee and was a chairmen for a number of years. Larry also served on the Ford Dealer Ad Council for the Upper Peninsula and Wisconsin Ford Dealers Association. Larry was an active member of the Methodist Church locally and district wide and he was on the finance committee as a chairperson for a number of years.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother Darold, and sister, Marge.

He is survived by his wife Carrie Lou of forty-seven and half years, one daughter, Julie (Bill) Fleck of Sparta, New Jersey, one son, Kent (Lori) Thomas of L'Anse, three grandchildren, Michael, Megan, and Brook and sister, Doris (Bill) Cristy of McHenry, Illinois.

Visitation will be at the Jacobson's Funeral Home on Monday, March 24, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at United Methodist Church in L'Anse at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Henry officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place in the Pequaming Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of L'Anse. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
