Leroy Richard Gauthier

Leroy R. Gauthier, age 60, of Baraga, died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at his home.
He was born May 22, 1945 in Marquette, MI son to the late George and Rose (Cross) Gauthier. Leroy graduated from Bark River-Harris High School. He was in the US Army during Vietnam. Leroy married the former Joan Loonsfoot on April 27, 1968 in Chicago. They moved to Baraga in 1977. Leroy worked for Tribal Construction for the past 22 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Joan of Baraga; son George Gauthier of Baraga; daughters, Pearl (Dan) Crusan of L'Anse, Joanne (Randy) Carlisle of Marquette, Brandi Gauthier of Baraga; one brother, Joseph (Kathy) Gauthier of Illinois; three sisters, Gertrude and Gladys Stevens both of Green Bay, and Betty Gauthier of Detroit; and 13 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Donald and Louis Gauthier; and sister Vivian Sommers.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 25, at 1:00 pm at the Most Holy Name of Jesus church in Assinins, Fr. George Maki will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Baraga County Area Veterans will conduct a military service at 12:30 pm at the church. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
