Lester Clarence Miron, 91, of Baraga, died Sunday morning, December 4, 2005, at Baraga County Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit in L'Anse.
He was born March 6, 1914, in Baraga, a son of the late Joseph and Alma (Anderson) Miron and has been a lifelong area resident. On September 24, 1938 he married the former Eva LaTendresse in Assinins, MI.
Lester worked as a lumberjack for several years before becoming employed as a miner with the CCI. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Baraga Fire Department and was a former chief. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, reading, history and was an avid Democrat.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eva Miron of Baraga; 5 sons, Jerome (Lynn) Miron of Cadillac, MI, Stephen (Lorraine) Miron of Brighton, MI, Henry (Roberta) Miron of Fenton, MI, Gregory (Phillis) Miron of Apple Valley, MN and Nicholas Miron of Pearce, AZ; 4 daughters, Virginia Riley of Seattle, WA, Eve Erickson of Lakeville, MN, Christine (Gary) Uren of Hamilton, MT and Amy (Mark) Burris of Everett, WA; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Joe (Mary )Miron of Honar, MI and Roger Miron of Baraga; and a sister, Mary Frances LeClaire of Baraga. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Liisa Miron; brothers, Donald, Earl, Louis and Raymond Miron; and sisters, Rita LeClaire and Norma Ross.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. George Maki officiating. Interment will be in the Baraga Cemetery in the spring.
