Lillian P. Maki

Lillian "Sonia" P. Maki, 85, of L'Anse, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 in the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
She was born April 26, 1921, in Herman, MI, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Pasanen) Horma and had been a lifelong Baraga County resident.
On March 14, 1942 she married John Maki in L'Anse and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2005. Sonia was a member of the DAV Auxiliary.
Sonia is survived by a son, Mike (Roberta) Maki of Laurium, MI; daughters, Nancy Eliassen of L'Anse and Karen (Dr. Robert) Lahti of Ontonagon; grandchildren, Amy (Loren) Almli of L'Anse, Scott Eliassen of Appleton, WI, Julie (Jim) Cartright of Houghton, John Maki of Laurium, Kim Eliassen of Marquette and Dawn Miron of DePere, WI; 8 great-grandchildren, Autumn, Matthew, Christopher, Patrick, Kelli, Ryan, Lexi and Jordyn; 2 sisters, Sally (John) Phillippi of Pelkie and Helmi Rutkowski of Ontonagon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, John and parents, Sonya was preceded in death by daughters, Patricia and Kathryn and brothers, Sigrid and Ambrose.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2006 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Judy Mattson officiating. Interment will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
