Linda E. Pirhonen-Wade, 84, of 98 Croix Street, Negaunee, passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming following a lengthy illness.

Linda was born July 26, 1919, in Nisula, a daughter of the late Henry and Hilda (Juntunen) Hulkonen. She has been a resident of Baraga County for her entire life with the exception of the last six years where she has resided in Negaunee.

Linda was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church and was active in the Pricilla Circle. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, rug weaving and helping out at the Hulkonen farm.

She is survived by a son, Will (Peggy) Pirhonen of St. John, MI; son-in-law, Michael Chapman of Ishpeming; daughter-in-law, Linda Mae Pirhonen of Palmer; grandchildren, Nana Pirhonen of Gwinn, Angela (Steve) Beauchaine of L'Anse, Maia (Todd) Ogea of Soumi Location, Jeremy Sawdy of East Lansing, Pamela Pirhonen of Palmer, Macy Chapman of Ishpeming, Heather Sawdy of Grand Rapids and Jamey Sawdy of East Lansing; great-grandchildren, Cameron Pirhonen, Courtney Pirhonen, Megan Ogea, Bryce Beauchaine, Brooke Beauchaine, Addison Pirhonen, Adam Ogea and Ryan Marshall; siblings, Sylvia Curtin of Hubbell, Sulo (Helga) Hulkonen of Kaleva, Aimo Hulkonen of Nisula, Arthur (Mildred) Hulkonen of Kaleva, Mildred Lampinen of Atlantic Mine and Edward (Shirley) Hulkonen of Nisula; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Viljo Pirhonen and Walter Howard Wade, a son, Arthur Roger Pirhonen and a daughter, Linda Lou Chapman.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2004 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home and on Monday in the Mission United Lutheran Church in Pelkie from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor Michael Laakko will be officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Nisula Cemetery.
