Lisa Anita Tolonen (Taylor), 41, passed away at Portage Hospital November 3, 2012 after over a year-long battle with several types of cancer.

Lisa was born in Ferndale, Michigan to Donald and Gretchen Taylor on January 23, 1971. She moved to L'Anse as a small child and lived there for years. She also lived in Pelkie and finally in Hancock. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic grade school and L'Anse High School graduating in 1990. Lisa married Bob Tolonen in 1992 and had two children Jon and Greg Tolonen. She was divorced in 2000.

Lisa worked at many places in L'Anse over the years including The Hilltop Restaurant, Winkler's Nursing Home, Subway, Home Health Care, the Ojibwa Casino, and the Secretary of States Office as Maintenance Supervisor.

Lisa loved bowling, dancing, going to the beach and spending time with her fiancAC. Travis Maxey, along with spending time with her sons, her family, and her friends (including her Facebook friends).

She was very social and loved people of all types. She was very kind to people having problems and tolerant of those with disabilities. Surviving are her sons Jonathon Robert Tolonen, 18, and Gregory Ross Tolonen, 16, her sister Heidi Marie Taylor, her former in-laws Janet and Robert Tolonen, her aunt Judy (Taylor) Gonya, her fiancAC. Travis Maxey and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mom Gretchen Burt Ann (Funke) Taylor and her father Donald Ross Taylor.

She missed her mother greatly and was very religious attending Church of the Resurrection in Hancock when she could.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9th from 9-10:45 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse, MI. A funeral mass will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse with Fr. Brian Gerber officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
