Lloyd Francis "Victor" Hugo, age 61, of Huron, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Fisher Titus Memorial Hospital in Norwalk, Ohio.

He was born on November 24, 1942 in Zeba, Michigan, son of the late John Hugo II and Isabelle (Asher) Hugo. He graduated from L'Anse High School in 1961.

After high school, Lloyd ventured throughout the Midwest. An accomplished musician, he toured with the musical bands the Vigilantes and the All-Nighters. Lloyd also cut a few solo records, and played exclusively in nightclubs throughout Ohio. In the 1980's he owned and operated Victors, a restaurant and nightclub in Norwalk, Ohio. He also operated the Hilton in Sandusky, Ohio.

Lloyd was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community and the Ojibwa Senior Citizens. He was an international leader in business & commerce, with deep involvement in American Indian affairs, a business leader with extensive legal, management and technological expertise. Lloyd was the President of Tera Link, Executive Director of the American Indian Association of Ohio, managed the Northern Ohio American Indian Arts Association, was an internationally recognized leader in interactive systems, served on the faculty and advisory board of the International Internet Gaming Association, has been a participant in the various workshops and task force meetings in Washington D.C. and in Portland, OR, and testified at the National Internet Gaming Association symposium on Nov. 14, 1997 and the world Internet convention hosted in Washington D.C. at that time. In 1999 he worked with the United States Senate as a panelist before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs regarding an amendment to the Emergency Supplemental appropriations bill involving the Interior Secretary's authority in the conduct of activities on American Indian lands.

Lloyd is survived by his daughter Haley Hugo of Huron, Ohio; sister Loretta Hugo of Zeba; brother John Hugo of Corvallis, Oregon; and 16 nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son Mark Hugo; sisters Beatrice (Honey) Mitchell and Shirley (Jessie) Knapp; and nephew Patrick Veker.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. Burial will be in the Assinins Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
