Lorraine Selene Bonini

Lorraine Selene Bonini age 74, of Houghton, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Born on October 8, 1950, in Hancock, Michigan, Lorraine was the beloved daughter of Ambrose "Jiggs" and Olga (Kangas) Bonini. She graduated from Hancock High School before pursuing a career as a cost accountant in Chicago, Illinois. It was there that she met her husband, Curtis Royal, and the two were married in June of 1972.

Lorraine and Curtis later moved to Skanee, where they owned and operated The Finn's Bar for over 20 years, creating a warm and welcoming space for friends and neighbors. She also dedicated over 20 years to caring for others as a Home Health Aide with Baragaland Seniors. In 2020, Lorraine moved to Houghton, where she continued to bring kindness and generosity to those around her.

She found joy in simple pleasures-spending time at the casino, sharing lunch with her sisters, and always being there to lend a helping hand. Lorraine had a giving heart and was always willing to do something for others.

Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Russell "Rusty" (Sheila) Royal of Baraga; her cherished grandchildren, DySean, Dhanya, Breyelle, and Princess; and her siblings, Maryann (Walter) Anderson, Caroline (Harry) Erkkila, George (Rosalie) Bonini, Rosemarie (Paul) Hermanson, Barbara Richard, and Patricia (William) Carbine. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Olga Bonini; her former husband, Curtis Royal; and her brothers, Ambrose, Anthony, Robert "Bob," and Michael Bonini.

Lorraine will be remembered for her kindness, hard work, and devotion to her family and community. Her warmth, generosity, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 1st, at 2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home, with Fr. Jins Joseph officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Michigan.
