Louis Testen, 95, of L'Anse, died Saturday afternoon, January 27, 2007, at Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming, MI.
He was born June 26, 1911 in Calumet, MI, a son of the late John and Theresa (Gastnich) Testen. He moved to the L'Anse area with his family as a child and had been a lifelong area resident.
Louis worked as a young man in the CCC logging camps, for the Ford Motor Company in Pequaming and on a surveying crew for the Sate of Michigan. Louis and his brother, John were logging partners until 1974. He also helped his brother manage the Testen Farm until 1989. He resided on the farm until October 2004 before relocating to Ishpeming to live with his niece. Louis entered the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming in April of 2006.
Louis enjoyed reading the newspaper and watching television, especially the "Price Is Right" and "Lawrence Welk Show". He also enjoyed playing cards, especially 31. More than anything Louis enjoyed visiting with people and reminiscing about old times.
Louis will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
