Lowell E. Elmblad Sr., age 84 of Skanee passed away on Monday, June 13, 2005 at Bayside Village in L'Anse where he has been a resident for the past 5 years.
He was born May 22, 1921 in Skanee, Michigan son of the late Oscar and Esther (Peterson) Elmblad. He graduated from the Skanee School in 1939.
Lowell was a life long area resident and was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the forest industry first for Elmblad Forest Products, and later for Celotex Corporation and then Mead Corporation. He retired in 1981.
He was married to the former Marjorie Lauger on April 15, 1944 in Iron Mountain. Lowell was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee.
Surviving are two sons, Leslie (Darlene) Elmblad of Skanee and Lowell (Peggy) Elmblad of Ontonagon; three daughters, Jodie (Douglas) Jukkala of L'Anse, Wendy Suchousky of Menominee, MI, Jill (David) Schultz of Sobieski, WI; two sisters, Eunice (Robert) Dove and Joyce Beesley both of Skanee; twelve grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lowell in death are his wife Marjorie on May 24, 1995, and three brothers, Donald, Roderick, and Kermit.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15th at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Skanee. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Pastor Judy Mattson will officiate. Burial will be in the Skanee Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
