Ida Mae Loman, age 78 of Baraga, MI passed away on Friday, October 16, 2009 at Marquette General Hospital.

She was born May 12, 1931 in Nisula, MI daughter to Arthur and Armita (Lepisto) Juntunen. Mae grew up in Nisula and graduated from Baraga High School in 1948. She married James R. Loman on July 29, 1950 in Nisula, MI.

Mae enjoyed sewing, knitting, and basket weaving. She was an avid sports fan and Mae and Jim were honored by the Baraga Area Schools in 2007 as sports fans of the year. She was also an avid Michigan State and Green Bay Packer Fan.

Mae was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga and the Lutheran Church Women.

Surviving are her husband James of Baraga; son Mark (Anne) Loman of Ishpeming; daughters, Patricia Verdi of Wellston, MI, Paula Loman of San Diego, CA, Cheryl (Matt) Heppler of East Lansing, Carol (Greg) Berthiaume of Middleton, WI; brothers, Arnold (Alice) Juntunen of Baraga, Harold (Joyce) Juntunen of Livonia, Norm (Jen) Juntunen of Farmington Hills, MI; sisters Lil (Pete) Van Stranten of Pequaming, MI, and Jean (William) Clisch of Alston, MI; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Loman of Skanee, and Jane Juntunen of Greenland, MI; 13 grandchildren, Jennifer Stieg, Clara, Anna, and Emma Heppler, Patrick and Scott Berthiaume, Zach, Margaret, Adam, Rachael, Katie Rose, Rebekah, and Faith Loman; 2 great grandchildren, Logan Dettlof and Ethan Stieg; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; daughters Kristen Sue Loman in 2003, and an infant daughter Joan Marie Loman; brothers James and Raymond Juntunen.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21st from 5-8:00 pm at the Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse and on Thursday, October 22nd from 10-11 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Baraga. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Pastor Pam Long will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
