Marie Elfers

Marie Elfers, 94, of Baraga, died Tuesday afternoon, September 6, 2005, at Bayside Village in L'Anse.
She was born May 18, 1911, in Baraga, a daughter of the late Victor and Mary (Osterlund) Johnson. Marie was raised in Baraga before moving to Chicago. She married Henry Elfers and the couple moved to Long Island, NY before returning to Baraga in 1944.
Marie loved to embroider, bake, she enjoyed rides in the country and was a lover of birds and animals.
She is survived by a brother, Arvid (Helen) Johnson of Baraga; and 2 sisters, Elsie Soli and Elvera "Viv" Barda, both of Baraga; and nieces and nephews. Her husband, Henry; brother, Rudolph Johnson; and sisters, Irene Pederson and Zenia Johnson preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Jacobson Funeral Home with Pastor Judy Maki officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Baraga Cemetery.
