Marlene Fay King, age 77 of Covington, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital with her daughter Jeanne at her side. She is now reunited with her husband Rocky.
She was born September 14, 1944 in Ishpeming, MI, daughter of Ernest and Tellerva (Larson) Niemi. Marlene graduated from Negaunee High School in 1962. She married S. Duane "Rocky" King on October 13, 1962 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Suomi Location. They belonged to the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. In 2010 they moved to Covington to be closer to family. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandson Jace. She also loved playing cards and scrabble with her husband Rocky, while listening to the radio, and visiting with friends.
Surviving are her daughter Jeanne (JR) Sikkila of Watton; grandchildren, Jace Sikkila of Watton, Shelby (Tyler) Fredricks of Remus, MI; great grandchild Teagan Fredricks; sisters Carol (Ted) Valeski of Quinnesec, Violet (Larry) Joseph of Las Vegas; brothers-in-law, Robert Kassmann of Rochester, NY, Kenny (Marcia) Lawson of Ishpeming, and John Lusardi of Ishpeming.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Rocky; sisters Jean Lawson, Mae Kassmann, Sherry Lusardi; nephews Rick Lawson, Brian Joseph, Ted Valeski Jr, and Robert Kassmann.
Visitation will be Friday, June 3rd from 12-1:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home in L’Anse. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m at the funeral home with Vicar Corey Harman officiating. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery.
