Martha Miilu

Martha Miilu, age 90 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Shulstad's Leisure Living in Baraga.
She was born on February 10, 1920 in Chassell, MI daughter to Matt and Eveliina (Valimaki) Autio. Martha was in the first graduating class in Pequaming in 1938.
Martha worked for 12 years at Skogmos (Oralies) in downtown L'Anse. She loved to read, bake, cook, and spend time with people.
She was a member of United Lutheran Church, life member of the Alston VFW Auxiliary, and the Baragaland Senior Citizens.
Surviving are her twin daughters Judith Testen and Joyce Taipalus both of L'Anse; son Ronald (Mary) Miilu of Mass City; six grandchildren, Linda Taipalus, Alan Taipalus, Carol (Erik) Mattox, Kay (Bill) Tisler, Mary (John) Wagner, Jim Miilu; and three great grandchildren, Cassandra, Ronald, and John Wagner.
Preceding her in death are her husband Edwin Miilu; brothers Sulo and Elmer Autio; sister Helen Van Haecke; son-in-laws Edward Testen and Edward Taipalus.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. John Autio and Rev. Judy Mattson will officiate. A luncheon will follow the service in The Sharing Room at Jacobson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
