Mary Helen Foy, age 98 of L'Anse, MI passed away on Friday, December 07, 2012 peacefully at her home.
She was born November 14, 1914 in Calumet, MI to the late John and Theresa (Gasnik) Testen. Mary grew up on the family Dairy Farm on Dynamite Hill Rd. and she attended a country school there. She married Theodore Foy on January 31, 1948 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the St. Rita's Circle Altar Society, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Mary enjoyed raising her family and her home making skills were extraordinary. She enjoyed sewing and alterations, quilting, making rag dolls, and cooking. She had a green thumb and could grow anything anywhere.
Surviving are her children Gary Foy of L'Anse, Gabriel (Tracy) Foy of Escanaba, Robert Foy of L'Anse, Helen (Peter) MacDougall of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; two brothers, Alben and Albert Testen of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Rhea Hartman, Richard (Cyndi) Hartman, Nathaniel (Jami) Foy, Kenneth Foy, Dandrea (Jeff) Gunderson; and her great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Theodore; brothers, Rudolph, Stanley, Joseph, Frank, Louis, August, and John Testen.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 13th from 10-11:45 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Fr. John Longbucco officiating. Burial will be held in the spring in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School.
