Mary D. Gardner

March 15, 1921 — September 12, 2003

Mary D. Gardner, age 82 of Sidnaw passed away on Friday, Sept. 12, 2003 at her home with her family at her side. She was born March 15, 1921 in Alexandria, Indiana daughter of the late Everett and Lenora (Hensley) Baldwin. Mary married Eugene Gardner on January 8, 1949 in Elwood, IN. They moved to Sidnaw in 1977 after they retired. She enjoyed making quilts which she gave to family and friends. Mary wrote poetry of which some was published. She also enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid bird watcher. Mary was a member of the VFW Post 8945 Auxiliary in Covington.

Mary is survived by one son Kevin (Catherine) Gardner of Zeeland, MI; three daughters, Judith Rich of Medina, OH, Veronica Brasher of Sidnaw, Yolanda (Reuben) Collins of Sidnaw; two brothers, Francis (Nettie) Baldwin of Elwood, IN, Donald Baldwin of South Pasadena, FL; one sister, Geraldine (Robert) Fern of Monticello, IN; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene in 1978; brother Chester Baldwin; sister Eunadine Dowler; and a grandson Colin Gardner.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Hershey will officiate. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m., and Tuesday from 10-11:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sidnaw Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Baraga County Hospital Home Care and Hospice. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
