Mary L. LaBeau, age 79 of Baraga passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2001 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital skilled nurse unit.
She was born November 15, 1921 in Evansville, IN, daughter to the late James and Ruth Freels. Mary grew up in Indiana and Detroit. She graduated from Evansville High School. She married Ellsworth "Hun" LaBeau in 1940 in Ohio. At that time they moved to Baraga where she had resided until now.
She loved crocheting, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. Mary was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild.
She is survived by one son, Gary (Susan) LaBeau of Baraga; one brother, Jack (Gertrude) Freels of Hampton, NJ; four grandchildren, Gary Jr., Shawn, Michelle, and James LaBeau; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Ellsworth; brothers, John and Ted Freels; and a sister Agnes Simpson.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Fr. George Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
