Mary A. Supanich
May 18, 1908 — December 16, 2002
Mary A. Supanich, age 94 of L'Anse passed away on Monday, December 16, 2002 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born on May 18, 1908 in Calumet, MI daughter to the late Phillip and Mary (Klarich) Stefonich. Mary attended school in Greenland, MI. She lived in Lake Linden until 1928, and then in Detroit until 1938 when she then moved to L'Anse. Mary married John P. Supanich on January 22, 1938 in Detroit, MI. She and her husband ran the Orchard Cabins in Bovine from 1959-86.
Mary was a member of the Scared Heart of Jesus Church and St. Rita's Circle. She ran BINGO at Sacred Heart for 30 years. Mary enjoyed gardening, fishing, and picking berries.
She is survived by one brother William Stefonich and many nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her husband John; four brothers, Fred, Joseph, Albert and Jim Supanich; four sisters, Albina Drake, Frances Luoma, Betty Store, and Veronica Therrian.
The funeral service for Mary will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Fr. Greg Heikkala will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
