Matthew Marcus Osterman, age 19 of Pequaming, MI passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 20, 2017 in Marquette, MI.
He was born October 14, 1997 in Hancock, MI son of G. Patrick and Lora (Westberg) Osterman. Matt graduated from L’Anse High School in 2015 and was currently a sophomore at Northern Michigan University in Marquette. While in high school he was on the cross country and golf team. During the summer, he worked in Alberta for MTU doing maintenance. Matt enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing the piano, and spending time with his brother and friends.
Surviving are his parents, Pat and Lora Osterman of Pequaming; maternal grandparents, Ron and Kathy Westberg of Maplewood, MN; siblings, Tina (Erin Kasl) Connell of St. Paul, MN, Kate (Jon) Hulkkonen of Iron Mountain, MI, Patrick (Brooke) Osterman of Covington, MI; nieces and nephews, Han Connell, Karlee, Hunter, and Fletcher Hulkkonen, Hannah Osterman; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Preceding him in death are his paternal grandparents, John Osterman and Virginia Hannegan; and two uncles.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 28th at the Whirl-I-Gig in L’Anse from 1-4 p.m. Burial will be in the spring in the Pequaming Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
