May MacKenzie, age 94 of L'Anse passed away on Friday, September 10, 2004 at her nieces home.
She was born the daughter of Guy and Selina (Seavoy) Selden on July 5, 1910 in L'Anse. May graduated from L'Anse High School in 1928. In 1931 she graduated as a Registered nurse at St. Mary's School of Nursing, which was run by the Daughters of Charity in Detroit. She did private duty at Ford Hospital in Detroit. In 1967 she married Fred MacKenzie in Atlanta, GA. They lived in Birmingham, MI until his death in 1982. May loved to read. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, in which she loved, and was devoted to praying the Rosary.
She was preceded in death by her brother John Selden and a baby brother Leam Selden, two sisters Patricia Hand and Dorothy Kramerich.
She is survived by a brother James (Mary) Selden of L'Anse, a sister Ruth "Bootsy" Suo of Ste. Claire Shores, and a sister-in-law Madge Selden of Marquette. May was much loved and will be long remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 13 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Chacko officiating. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home in L'Anse is assisting the family.
