Melvina Ann Jaukkuri
April 15, 1925 — August 12, 2002
Melvina A. Jaukkuri, age 77 a life long resident of Baraga, passed away on Monday, August 12 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1925, a daughter to the late Ernest and Violet (LaBeau) Auge. Melvina married Paul Jaukkuri on April 5, 1947 in Pelkie, celebrating their 55th Wedding Anniversary this year.
Melvina was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, KBIC, and Ojibwa Seniors. She enjoyed crafting.
She is survived by her husband Paul of Baraga; one son Peter Jaukkuri of Baraga; three daughters, Elaine (Richard) Blamer, Miina (Richard) Holappa, and Pauline Knapp all of Baraga; three sisters, Della Whitty of Deland, FL, Frances Hall of West Branch, MI, Mary (John) Reeves of Muskegon, MI; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren.
Melvina is preceded in death by a son David Jaukkuri; two grandchildren; two brothers Emerson and Donald Auge; three sisters, Mildred Snowden, Geraldine Juntunen, and Helen Ball.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Elder Reino Ketola will officiate. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
