Michael J. Chosa, age 52, of Baraga, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2001 at his home.

Mike was born June 30, 1948 in Baraga, son of Clarence "Buck" and Elizabeth (Madosh) Chosa. He graduated from Baraga High School in 1966. He received an Associate Degree in Business from Suomi College. Mike worked for the KBIC for many years doing economic development. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, and playing cards. He was involved with Toys for Tots for many years, and coached KeBay Soccer, and little league. Mike enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved very much.

He attended the L'Anse Baptist Church. Mike was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving in the Marine Corps. and was a member of the American Legion Post 444 in Baraga, Keweenaw Detachment Marine Corp. League in South Range, and the KBIC.

He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Chosa of Baraga, two daughter Jennifer (Duane) Misegan of L'Anse, Jodie Chosa of Norway, three sisters Beverly Hellyer, Joyce Chosa, and Amy St. Arnold all of Baraga, his grandchildren Jacob and Deena Misegan of L'Anse, niece Peggy Hellyer of Dearborn Heights, MI, nephews John Hellyer of Minneapolis, MN, Ryan St. Arnold of Ann Arbor, MI, great nephew Mike Hellyer of Dearborn Heights, and aunt Harriet Geroux of Baraga, and numerous cousins.

Mike is preceded in death by his father Clarence "Buck" Chosa and brother James "Joe" Chosa.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Jacobson Funeral Home. Military services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m., at the L'Anse Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Saunders will officiate. Burial will be in the Assinins Cemetery.

The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is in charge of arrangements.
