Michael Alan Francis

Michael Alan Francis, age 47 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home.
He was born July 12, 1970 in Hancock, MI son of Joseph Francis and Barbara Maki. Mike graduated from Houghton High School in 1989. He was in the US Navy from Oct. 1990-92 during Persian Gulf and Desert Storm. On February 28, 1993 he married Sandra Reynolds in Bremerton, WA. They moved to L’Anse, where he worked for Kissel Automotive from 1993-2000. Mike and Sandra then opened their own business, Silver River Auto Repair, which he ran for 7 years until he became a disabled veteran, at which time he had to retire.
Mike enjoyed old cars and trucks, and Toyota Tundra’s; he loved taking his 71 Chevy to car shows. He also enjoyed fishing, swimming, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, walking in the woods, and being outdoors. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are his loving wife of almost 25 years, Sandra Francis of L’Anse; son Ryan Francis of Eugene, OR; father Joseph Francis of Atlantic Mine, MI; mother Barbara (Brian) Maki of Chassell, MI; mother-in-law Jona L Reynolds and sister-in-law Amanda Reynolds both of Bremerton, WA.
Michael was preceded in death by grandparents Norman & Betty Francis of Houghton, MI & Fred & Helen Savela of Mass city, MI.
A private family service will be held this summer. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L’Anse is assisting the family.
