Nancy Alina Autio

Nancy Autio, age 57 of Covington passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003 at Bayside Village following a lengthy illness.

She was born December 20, 1945 in Negaunee, Michigan daughter to Verner and Ruth (Mattson) Autio. Nancy graduated from L'Anse High School in 1963. She was very active in 4-H. She attended Finlandia University for two years and then Northern Illinois University graduating with a degree in Education. Nancy was an elementary school teacher in the Steger School System in Illinois for 23 years. She moved back to Covington in 1989, and has resided at Winkler's and Bayside Village since 1995.

Nancy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. She enjoyed sewing, loved animals, and enjoyed teaching and loved kids.

She is survived by her mother Ruth Hill of Covington; two brothers, Clark Autio of Covington, Ordean Autio of Kersey, CO; one nephew, Shawn Autio of Iron River, MI; and one aunt, Irene (Robert) Godell of Covington.

Nancy is preceded in death by her father Verner Autio and her step father Uno Hill.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Covington. Rev. Mark Reinsch will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Covington Cemetery in the spring. The Jacobson Funeral Home of L'Anse is assisting the family.
