On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Nancy Jean (LeClair) Block, Loving mother of four children, passed away at age 76.
Nancy was born December 31, 1943 in Hancock, MI to Reuben and Isabelle (Haanpaa) LeClair. She graduated from L'Anse High School in 1961. Nancy married Judge William D. Block on January 31, 1964. Nancy worked as a Legal Secretary and Illinois State Legislative Aide. She received her Associates degree from the College of Lake County where she later served for several years on the Board of Trustees and served as President. Nancy was a founding member of the Vernon Area Library and served on the board of trustees.
Nancy was a lifelong learner, who enjoyed reading, painting, travel and her solitude on the lake. She was a voracious reader and traveled to many places around the world with a special love of Paris. Her quick wit and amazing intuitive leaps were admired by those who knew her. She was a quirky woman and was always someone who would help those she knew and loved. Nancy will be missed by many including thrift stores around the world.
Nancy was proceeded in death by her husband Bill, father Ding, and her mother Issy. She is survived by her four children Jeanette (Steve) Baker, Bill (Janet) Block, Susie (James) Seiling, Jamie (Angie) Block all of Illinois; Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, Amanda, Jennifer, Kaily, Megan Drew, Joseph, Shelby, Devin, Chance, Tanner, Trevor, Rylee, Caiden, Maggie, and Aksel; Her Brother Mike LeClair of Houghton, her aunt Carol (Wally) Roth of L’Anse; and many nieces nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family. Friends may sign Nancy's guest book or send condolences at www.jacobsonfuneralhome.com
