Nicholas Elmer Lindemann, age 81 of Pelkie, MI passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born September 29, 1937 in Baraga, MI son of Nicholas and Marie (Ricken) Lindemann. Nicholas graduated from Baraga High School in 1955 and received a certificate in Machining from Michigan Tech. He married Dorothy JoDean Getzen on August 10, 1957 at St Ann's Church in Baraga.
Nicholas worked for Bill's Auto Parts in L'Anse just after graduation. Nick then moved to Detroit and worked for Eaton Spring Co before returning to Baraga to work for Tangen Manufacturing which then became Pettibone Cylinder Shop. Nick retired in 1999 as general manager after 43 years. He then returned back to one of his favorite hobbies, farming, and established Lindemann Machining and Welding with his kids.
Nicholas belonged to St Ann's Church, Baraga County Car Club, and was a volunteer at the Baraga Ice Rink, where he spent many hours helping set up the artificial ice. Nick served on the Baraga Township Zoning Commission Board. Nicholas enjoyed watching his kids play sports, farming, milking cows, hunting, camping, collecting cars, tractors, and guns. Nick was also instrumental in the placing of the Bishop Baraga Shrine and the crucifix monument in the Assinins Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife JoDean of Pelkie; children Nicholas (Cindy) of Baraga, Jeanne (Mike) Hirzel of Baraga, Bryan (Lori) of Baraga, Thomas of Baraga, Robert (Kristine) of Indiana, Timothy of Baraga, Suzanne (James) Raymond of Pelkie, Gerald (Jessica) of Baraga, James of Baraga, Gerard (Michelle) of Baraga; 25 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents; siblings, Elsie Byrne, Joseph Lindemann, Helen Tangen, Ruth Gryka and grandson, Jason Lindemann.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Ann's Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10-11 a.m. Burial will be in the Baraga Cemetery. The luncheon will follow the burial at St. Ann's Church hall. Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
