"Nora" (Helen Honora) Koski, age 90 of L'Anse, MI passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at The Omega House in Houghton, MI.
Nora was born in Houghton, MI on January 19, 1921, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth "Elsie" Corgan. Nora married Gordon Koski on May 26, 1939 in L'Anse. They were together for over sixty years.
Nora's main focus was her family,children, and grandchildren. Relatives and friends fondly remember her warm welcome and loads of baked goods. The coffee pot was always on! Nora enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, and sharing her talents with her family and others. She was an avid reader and had a life-long appreciation of music; passions she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
She was a devout Catholic and member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She was also a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving are her son Gordon (Marilyn) Koski of L'Anse; daughters, H. Sue (Darwyn) Cote of Mohawk, MI, Lynne Koski Lanczy of Marquette, MI, Candace (Sigurds) Koski Janners of Houghton, Trudi Koski (Keith Matson) of Ishpeming, Cynthia (Dennis) Lundy of L'Anse; two brothers, Daniel (Bernice) Corgan of Salem, OR, Joseph Corgan of Deland, FL; much-loved sister Elsie Grace of L'Anse; 20 grandchildren, Wil (Dara) Cote, Brad (Holly) Cote, Athena Cote, Gordette (Ed) Leutz, Colleen Koski, Cathy (Brian) Lahti, Darryl (Lynn) Koski, Dan (Stacey) Koski, Jane (John) Kyle, Jack Dudo, Elizabeth Christianson, Christy Laitinen, Jeremiah Mason, Honora (Andy) Diepen, Victoria (Aaron) Bartkowiak, Levi (Jenn) Hietikko, Brandon (Lauren) Hietikko, Sherry (Craig) Cowell, Dennis A. (Jennifer) Lundy; Mathew Lundy (Jess); 36 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Gloria Haapala of Marquette, Martha (Fran) Bertucci of Ishpeming; brothers-in-law, Ron (Donna) Koski of Wisconsin, Kevin "Wally" (Lorraine) Koski of Marquette, and Gerald (Peggy) Koski of Ishpeming.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon Koski.; brothers, Andrew, Francis, Patrick, William, John; sisters, Adeline Perry, Charlotte Littrell, Josephine Grace, Elizabeth Corgan; grandson Andrew Dudo; and a great granddaughter Kinzy Hietikko.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, September 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in L'Anse. Fr. Ben Paris will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the L'Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
